Neck rotations(GREEVA SANCHALANA)⏱ 3:03Beginners
Neck

Neck rotations are a simple and effective exercise that can help improve mobility and flexibility in the neck, relieve tension in the neck and shoulders, and improve circulation to the area&&As you perform the exercise, focus on moving your neck gently and smoothly, avoiding any jerky or sudden movements. If you experience any pain or discomfort, stop the exercise and consult with a healthcare professional. Additionally, it's important to remember to breathe deeply and evenly throughout the exercise to help improve circulation and relaxation.

  1. Begin in a seated or standing position with your spine straight and your shoulders relaxed.
  2. Slowly turn your head to the right, bringing your chin over your right shoulder. Hold this position for a few seconds, feeling the stretch in your neck.
  3. Slowly bring your head back to center.
  4. Repeat the movement on the left side, turning your head to the left and bringing your chin over your left shoulder. Hold this position for a few seconds, feeling the stretch in your neck.
  5. Slowly bring your head back to center.
  6. Repeat the rotation on each side 5-10 times.
  • Neck rotations are a simple and effective Sukshma Vyayama exercise that offer several benefits, including:
  • Improved mobility and flexibility in the neck: Neck rotations help to loosen up the muscles and joints in the neck, which can improve range of motion and reduce stiffness.
  • Relief from tension and stiffness: Neck rotations help to reduce tension and stiffness in the neck and shoulder area, which can be caused by sitting for long periods or stress.
  • Improved circulation: The gentle movement of the neck during rotations can help to improve blood flow to the area, which can reduce inflammation and promote healing.
  • Relief from headaches: Neck rotations can help to relieve tension headaches that are caused by tight muscles in the neck and shoulders.
  • Reduced stress and anxiety: Neck rotations can be a calming exercise that promotes relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety.
  • It's important to remember to perform neck rotations slowly and gently, and to stop if you experience any pain or discomfort. As with any exercise, it's also important to check with a healthcare professional before starting if you have any underlying health conditions or injuries.
  • When done properly and within one's physical limitations, neck rotations are generally safe and beneficial for most people. However, there are some potential consequences of neck rotations that should be kept in mind, including:
  • Neck strain or injury: If done too quickly or with too much force, neck rotations can cause strain or injury to the neck muscles, ligaments, and joints.
  • Dizziness or vertigo: Rapid or excessive neck rotations can cause dizziness or vertigo in some people, especially if they have a pre-existing condition like vertigo or Meniere's disease.
  • Increased pressure on the neck: In some cases, neck rotations may cause an increase in pressure on the neck and spine, which can lead to discomfort or injury.
  • Aggravation of existing neck conditions: If you have an existing neck condition like arthritis or a herniated disc, neck rotations may exacerbate your symptoms and should be avoided.
  • To minimize the risk of these consequences, it's important to perform neck rotations slowly and gently, avoiding any sudden or forceful movements. It's also important to listen to your body and stop if you experience any pain, discomfort, or dizziness. If you have any concerns about whether neck rotations are safe for you, it's best to check with a healthcare professional before starting the exercise.
